Depression: A Hidden Pain

Depression is more than just sadness; it’s a state of being that can manifest as profound sadness, guilt, or even a numb, empty feeling. This condition often involves a negative inner voice that criticizes and diminishes self-worth, pointing to unmet needs beneath the surface. Depression can stem from various causes, whether it’s a biological chemical imbalance or environmental factors like traumatic life events, particularly in childhood. Regardless of its origin, relief is possible through understanding and treatment.

Understanding & Treating Depression

Depression can sometimes be confused with grief, as both share similar symptoms, though their roots and treatments differ. Grief, often described as love with no place to go, can lead to feelings of emptiness after a loss, making the world feel like a void. Depression looks different for everyone—some experience it as a distinct episode, while others endure it as a chronic state. In treating depression, a holistic approach is essential, considering all factors that contribute to and intensify this condition.

We will work together.

Throughout the therapeutic process, I engage my clients in an ongoing dialog about their experience of the therapy. I directly ask them to describe what they enjoy, what they dislike, and how we can continue collaborating to make the treatment as effective as possible.
